Capsize Comfort Value (CCV) is a more reliable and more valid number for assessing seaworthiness than Capsize Screening Formula or Comfort Ratio on their own.
By combining both Capsize Screening formula (CSF) and Comfort Ratio (CR), Capsize Comfort Value (CCV) estimates a boat’s stability and motion comfort in a seaway. Moreover, it does so in relation to all other boats in the population.
However, as neither Capsize Screening formula (CSF) nor Comfort Ratio accounts for absolute Length in Waterline, Draft, or Displacement (in relation to the same for the total population of sailboats), there are more valid and reliable measures of seaworthiness than Capsize Comfort Value (CCV)
